Thanks to its high available power and small size, the air motor reduces operator fatigue and provides versatility in many air-powered hand held tools. This makes for very light and powerful tools when compared to electric tools that have the same power capabilities. Polyamide housings are extremely durable, insulate against temperature extremes and provide maximum grip comfort.
Since the inlet air powers and cools the motor, external dust, moisture or other contaminants have no effect on its life. This is most noticeable in grinding and drilling applications, where electric tools rely on external air for cooling. Air tools are normally very safe because the inlet air and the air motor do not produce sparks that can ignite flammable materials or gases. Air tools can be used in wet or damp areas without risk of electric shock or tool failure.
Accurate torque control helps users get more done. Precise shut-off clutches guarantee accurate, repeatable torque control for hard and soft joints alike. Ratcheting cushion clutches and S-plus clutches handle a wide range of prevailing torque fasteners with ease. Bosch impulse and impact tools provide minimal torque reaction to the user.
Each version of air tool with a shut-off clutch must survive a 1,000,000 cycle test under load without failure or excessive adjustment during development. All ball & detent-type Bosch clutches (shut-off, cushion & S–plus) provide 15 percent greater torque in reverse for removing fasteners. Plus, Bosch production tools share many of the same air motors, housings and clutches and are easy to maintain and repair.
