cannot see studs
After a great deal of testing and practice, I find I cannot reliably detect studs behind drywall. I have tested it on a known location. It can see wires, duct, pipes but it cannot reliably see studs.
I would suggest that with a product of this type, some training videos be posted online. so far, I have not found any. Also, I suspect Bosch knows about this defect and does not disclose it. might have been nice to know before I paid $800 dollars for a paperweight.

More of a metal detector than stud locator
I've been frustrated with the consistency and accuracy of all stud finders on the market and thought that the Bosch D-tect 150 was different. While it is very well built, I've had nothing but poor results using this unit as a stud finder in stick-built walls. I've re-read the instructions several times to see if I was not using it properly. It will detect wiring, metal piping and ductwork very nicely but will not reliably detect wooden studs behind drywall or plywood sheathing. This is the only Bosch tool that has let me down, especially considering its $700+ pricetag. I can only hope that Bosch can re-tune this tool to be as good as its other tools.
