Reliable, smooth finish and durable. I've had this sander for over 7years (2011). I have found it to be an extremely well balanced tool. It has minimal vibration which allows for prolonged sanding. The finish it leaves is very smooth and sanded evenly (back to the balance thing) and the dust collection is highly effective with the supplied canister filter. But if that's not good enough there is a hose option, when connected to a shop vac the effectiveness of the dust collection increases significantly (which is hard to imagine). I use quality sandpapers and because of the effectiveness of the dust collection my sanding disc's last for a long time because the paper doesn't clog and then burn due to the dust. It should also be noted that this sander is not one of those that screams loudly at you.... And just so you know in addition to the one I bought long ago, I inherited my dad's which is about 4 years old and it too has the exact same performance characteristics as the one I bought many years agol.
