Bosch Reveals Next Generation Battery Packs

New Batteries Boast Significantly Increased Runtime and CoolPack™ Technology

Las Vegas, Feb. 5, 2013 – Bosch Power Tools is raising the bar on productivity with the release of its next generation BAT620 4.0 A-h and BAT612 2.0 A-h 18-volt and BAT414 2.0 A-h 12-volt lithium-ion batteries. The newest Bosch battery line combines greater cell energy density for up to 65 percent longer runtime and advanced CoolPack™ technology for up to 100 percent more recharge-life.

Each new Bosch battery includes advanced lithium-ion chemistry, which packs more energy per cell without increasing its size. The new batteries also offer users lower internal resistance and higher efficiency. As a result, a standard duty driver can now drive over 820 screws on a single 18V 4.0 A-h battery charge - 65 percent more than the previous generation 3.0 A-h packs, as verified by third party testing*.

The new 2.0 A-h 12-volt battery also features the next generation cells and significant runtime improvements, up to 50 percent over previous generation 1.0 and 1.5 A-h. Additionally, these batteries continue to be the most compact and lightest weight within the segment.

“Our newest lithium-ion battery packs offer users increased productivity and the value of exceptional recharge-life, which results in a very productive cordless experience for professionals,” said Jason Feldner, group product manager for Bosch Cordless.

Professionals not only want long runtime, but also exceptional recharge-life, which can be threatened by excessive heat over time within the battery. The new Bosch 18-volt batteries address this need with proprietary CoolPack technology. Users can quickly identify a CoolPack by the unique red heat conductive housing, which extends inward and wraps around each cell to extract heat from within. With its unique conductive properties and rib design, Bosch is the only battery manufacturer to integrate such advanced technology.

Each new Bosch battery is fully compatible with the complete Bosch 18 and 12 –volt lithium-ion tool system. Users also have the convenient choice between a smaller 18V 2.0 A-h Slim pack for work overhead and in tight spaces, or the larger 18V Fat pack for heavy-duty long runtime applications.

Throughout the first half 2013, Bosch will transition its complete cordless line to its next generation batteries. Eighteen-volt BAT620 and 12-volt BAT414 are currently available as stand-alone packs, while the 18-volt BAT612 will launch in May 2013. Tool kits featuring each battery will transition through the late winter and early spring. Find these and more at any authorized dealer nationwide.
